Engineered timber flooring consists of a real hardwood wear layer bonded to a stable multiply core. The multiply construction minimises expansion and contraction with changes in humidity and temperature, making it suitable for a wider range of environments than solid timber, including over hydronic heating and in areas with high humidity variation.

Every Maison Oak board carries a 3 to 4mm European oak wear layer, depending on format, over a cross laminated eucalyptus multiply core with birch ply backing. Our core range is built on a 15mm board, and other thicknesses are produced on request. A wear layer in this range can be sanded and refinished several times over the life of the floor rather than once, which is the practical difference between an engineered board that lasts a renovation cycle and one that lasts decades.

Yes. All tones in the Maison Oak collection are hydronic heating compatible. The multiply core construction provides the dimensional stability required for use over in slab or under floor hydronic systems. We recommend maintaining water temperature below 28°C and following our installation guide for heating applications.

Maison Oak is available in three formats: Plank (classic straight lay), Herringbone at 850 x 150mm, and Chevron at 750 x 150mm with mitre cut ends. All twelve tones are produced in all three formats, so a tone selection never limits the pattern you can specify.

Plank is available in 190mm, 220mm, 260mm and 300mm. 190mm holds a classic proportion and suits most residential work. 220mm reads as more contemporary and works well across open plan living. The 260mm and 300mm boards are made for large format architectural spaces where board count should recede. Herringbone and chevron are supplied in their own set dimensions. We confirm quantities and timing for your selection at quote stage.

Maison Oak is supplied in Select Grade (ABC) as standard, with Nature Grade (ABCD) available for projects wanting more knot and character variation. Specifying a single grade across the collection is deliberate. It means the twelve tones behave consistently against each other, so changing colour does not also change how busy the floor reads.

Yes. Beyond the twelve standard tones we develop bespoke colour, gloss level and board dimensions for projects that need an exact match to joinery, stone or an existing floor. Custom work is quoted per project. Submit your details through Specify Your Project and we will come back with options and timing.

We supply Australia wide. Installation is carried out by our own crews in Melbourne only. For projects outside Melbourne we supply the floor and work alongside your builder or flooring contractor, and we are happy to talk their team through the installation specification.

It depends on the tone, format and quantity. We confirm the position for your selection at quote stage, and production runs approximately 12 to 16 weeks from deposit. On documented projects we ask specifiers to confirm quantities early so the program is protected.

Architects and designers can request our specification guide and product documentation from the Specification Hub, or use the Specify Your Project form to submit project details directly. Installation specifications, care and maintenance and warranty documentation are all available on request. If your documentation set needs something we have not published, ask us and we will prepare it for the project.

Yes. Tell us which tones you would like to see and we will send those, presented with a tone index card. Samples are cut large enough to judge tone, grain and finish in natural light rather than from a screen. Maison Oak floors carry a lifetime structural warranty on the multiply core construction and a 25 year wear layer warranty under normal residential use. Commercial applications carry a 10 year wear layer warranty. Full warranty documentation is available in the Specification Hub.

Each board is a European oak wear layer over a cross laminated plywood core, with a birch plywood backing that carries relief cuts for stability. Edges are micro bevelled, the surface is sawn cut and finished in a light wire brush with matte UV lacquer, and boards join with a precision milled tongue and groove. Maison Oak can be direct stuck or floated. Direct stick is what we specify for most projects because it gives the most solid underfoot result.

Yes. The collection carries a P3 slip rating, which covers most internal commercial applications, and the boards are manufactured to E1 for formaldehyde emissions. For any project with a specific slip or air quality requirement in the documentation, send us the clause and we will confirm compliance in writing before you specify.

Boards are manufactured to a moisture content of 8 to 10 percent, which is the right range for Australian conditions. They should still be acclimatised on site in the conditions they will live in, with the building closed in and wet trades complete. Our installation guide sets out the timeframe and the subfloor moisture readings to check before work starts.

Yes. Stair nosings are made from the same engineered plank boards over a cross laminated plywood core, so the tread reads continuously with the floor, and they can be finished with brass, silver or black metal inserts. We also supply European oak cladding for walls and ceilings in the same tones, which is how a project carries one material through a space rather than matching it twice.

Maison Oak floors require minimal maintenance. Regular sweeping or vacuuming removes grit that can scratch the surface. Damp mopping with a pH neutral cleaner is recommended for periodic cleaning. Avoid excess water, steam mops, and harsh chemical cleaners. Full care and maintenance documentation is available in the Specification Hub.

Yes. Engineered European oak is specified regularly for hospitality, workplace, boutique retail and multi residential work, and larger jobs are handled with dedicated project management, staged delivery to site and custom tone or dimension development where the design calls for it.
